What is Nadodrze ?
Nadodrze district is the most neglected and dangerous part of our city, but magic, charming, with special cilmate of XIXth century tenement houses as well. Wroclaw’s municipality has started a wide-ranging activities to renovate this infrastructure in order to stimulate development and attract district for tourist, artists and citizens. But the fact is that not only building renovation or roads reparation will change the image of this place…

The urban, social, economic and cultural regeneration of public housing estates is realised in Wroclaw!
It is to change permanently image of Nadodrze district, revive the area, stimulate the social life, lead the process of luxury and unusual shoping zone outcoming and entitle it as a handcraft-artistic space.
So many various aims should be realised in idea of sustainable development with divers partners and actors involvment – government, architects, NGOs, citizens and volunteers…

What do we want to do?
Foundation House of Peace is looking for participants for one-year project, in range of Nadodrze district revitalistion.
The project will last from September 2009 to July (the volunteers are going to stay in wroclaw for 9 months – from 1st of October till 30th of June) and will be realised via EVS programm.
All included activitities are based on “local comunity activation” and “temporaty gardens” methods.
Taking a part you will spend one year with 9 other volunteer and support team looking for solutions to change the image of the district and changing it as well. You can be also sure that it will be challange and adventure int he same time.

Project contains:
- scholarship
- district researches (sociologist, architectural, urbanistic, historical, ecological, cultural)
- activities with local community – workshop, performances, yard actions, events, etc..
- photography workshops, language tandems, polish lessons
- psychological tests of volunteers (Assessment Center)
- preparing project of playground/yard modernisation
- realising the project of modernisation
- final presentation

During the project volunteers will be encouraged to participate in other of our current projects
